Presentation Title
The Water-Energy Nexus Resilience to Climate Change
Abstract
Water and energy systems are highly interdependent.
Electricity production needs large amounts of water to cool power plants. Water production, treatment and delivery need large amounts of energy.
Climate change is now impacting the water cycle. This leads to increased risks around safety of power plants and security of energy supply. More disruptions and diminishing efficiencies are to be expected.
Engineering solutions will increasingly be needed to build in resilience in the water and energy systems. The role of cities in managing water and energy demand will be crucial going forward.
