    Presentation Title
Sustainable Riverfront Urban Development Along River Ravi in Lahore, Pakistan

    Abstract
The two critical challenges faced in the proposed Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project are (a) development and implementation of technical measures that will increase the River Ravi flows in order to become a perennial freshwater body, and, (b) development of a sustainable, high quality Riverfront Urban Development by, (i) maintaining the pre-determined acceptable river flow levels, (ii) Implementing flood mitigation measures, (iii) Ensuring all wastewaters are adequately treated before being discharged into the River Ravi, and, (iv) Maintaining pollution control measures in the catchment areas. In addition to the water flow from Chenab River through link canals to enhance the Ravi River flow, river training and channelization measures are proposed to augment the river water flow. Feasibilities for treatment of wastewater generated from the RRUDP area, proper waste management (through sustainable infrastructure planning) and Ravi River catchment pollution control through legal enforcements are assessed for the Ravi River water quality improvement.
