Abstract
Cameroon, which is Africa in miniature, is located in the centre of Africa. The main factor here as concerned climate change is rainfall. So live alternates between dry and rainy seasons. This key factor impacts social housing.
In this exposé, we give an overview of the Cameroonian society (Part I). It is characterized by four ethnic groups and over two hundred tribes. The second part of the exposé talks on public policies set up as well as building technology. The northern area is characterized by pisa, the southern area by “torchis”, the western by “adobe” and wood. In part III of the essay, we focus on laurels and challenges: Demography, implementation, financing, climate change. In this way, the government of Cameroon shall subsidize social housing for 113 billion Fcfa (US$225 million) each year as from 2013 and ensure the braking of social barriers.
